The Smoke Chokcing My Lungs

This week has been very interesting, with renewed hopes, revised goals, weight loss, gymming, and a photo shoot in the gym.

Let’s start with a quick photo tip.

WE ARE SAILING!

Here is this week’s update and some food for thought. I share this to inspire and teach, not to brag.

  • I have been hitting the gym, losing weight and eating healthy. Remember I spoke about “seeking clarity”? My one aim is to be healthier. A healthy body and mind lead to personal growth.

  • My Instagram now showcases portraits, gym shoots, and street photography along with landscapes to diversify my portfolio and attract business. I've been passionate about portraits and street photography for years and have an extensive archive.

  • December is choker-blocked with a writing schedule. It pays well, and it’s something I love.

  • I've bowed down to the Instagram algorithm by creating quick 60-second Reels/Shorts/TikToks to share photography and creative tips. These minimal-effort videos are helping me grow my audience. The idea is simple: “I add value, and you keep watching and subscribing.” I’m evolving by keeping business in mind and using small hacks to get viewer’s attention.

If a task is postponed weekly without progress, it likely isn’t a priority and should be removed. I had a script and shot list for a photography video that lingered for over four weeks, so I took it off my board. Instead, I created a new script focused on life and motivation, completed the shot list, and selected music just yesterday. It’s fun and the creative process is fulfilling.

The pivoting strategy creates opportunities. It's been five months since my resignation, and it's full of joy. I'm hopeful for the future. Despite only two sales (thank you, you know who you are! 😊), it was necessary to make the photography course. It, however, consumed me so much that I forgot the joy of making passion videos, and I'm excited about the upcoming one. Its success lies in realising my creative vision.

Lastly, if you smoke, don’t do it in public space. I am enjoying my coffee, well I was, until this couple came and started smoking, and the smoke is choking me. I am a non-confrontational person and I am gathering the courage to tell them to “lay off” in a polite way. Any tips?
