I am hurt!

I will write down a few thoughts that strike my mind quite loudly these days. They are based on my recent experiences and my previous corporate life. I have also been guilty of confusing my mind and have seen family, friends, and ex-colleagues suffer from these misconceptions.

  • Multi-tasking doesn’t mean you are disciplined and productive; it may lead to confusion and frustration.

  • Hard work doesn’t equate to personal fulfilment.

  • Don’t blame the deadlines and sheer volume of work for your lack of energy and unhappiness.

  • Your life is in your control, and you have a choice no matter how challenging the circumstances are.

I write all of the above because I see people around me who are intellectual geniuses but unhappy. Like I said in the opening lines, I have been and am guilty, too. I have seen fit, young, and intelligent individuals turn into unhealthy zombies because “they have work deadlines”. Once a deadline is over, another one comes, and once that’s over, a new one awaits. Life will always have work and personal challenges. How many excuses would we make? The problem can be solved if we shift the blame from others to ourselves. We can choose not to eat unhealthy food even if we are stressed. Businesses, corporations and our personal ambitions will want to squeeze the last drop of our efforts unless we decide to create a balance in life. No one stops us from quitting a unhealthy environment and choosing a better one. If we decide to watch TV series and scroll through Twitter, Instagram and TikTok instead of learning something we are passionate about, it’s nobody’s fault but ours. The shackles are in our minds because we have lost our purpose and ambitions. To stay in our comfort zone is more accessible, but being courageous is rewarding and fulfilling. Courage means stopping procrastinating, learning more about yourself, implementing changes in your behaviour and how you react to negativity, growing your knowledge in the field you are passionate about, and planning to walk a path and then walk it eventually.

I know people who say that they want to keep their options open. What they are actually saying is that they are indecisive due to a lack of courage. When you embark on a journey because you are courageous, don’t ever think you have cut yourself off from other paths. It means you have started a journey that may lead to many opportunities. You are different from the crowd, and if you keep track of your progress, you will fine-tune to move efficiently.

I will end here because I have been too harsh today and made judgmental statements. I will again repeat that I have been and am guilty, too. My mind boggles when I see someone blaming everything around them for their problems but not taking responsibility for their thinking patterns and lifestyle. It’s pretty hurtful, especially when they are close to you. So I am not angry; I am hurt!
