The importance of website SEO for a Full-Time Photographer and Filmmaker

Some of you wanted to know why I was in Frankfurt, and some wanted to know what I was doing to my website.

Let’s talk about it.

FRANKFURT

The Italian Embassy in Cape Town issued us a multiple-entry Schengen visa, and my wife and I decided to visit a friend in Estonia. Since I work for myself, she suggested I travel early for some photography, so I did.

  1. I arranged a shoot with a female model through a model agency, agreeing to exchange photos and videos for their promotion instead of payment. It was a win-win, providing me with valuable experience and new connections, even though I don't plan to pursue this professionally.

  2. As I’m a NiSi Filters ambassador, I also borrowed an expensive filter kit for a month to shoot time-lapses in Frankfurt.

The monetary value: Although I won’t earn any profit, I have arranged to write a few articles about the above experiences, which will cover the cost of my trip.

Long-term value: My portfolio as a photographer and writer is expanding, and I am gaining diverse experience in various styles. This will help me secure more jobs in local and international markets.

What can a website do for you that Social Media, YouTube and Instagram can’t

MY WEBSITE

I’m still discovering who I am and what my path is. After seven months, I realise I’m more inexperienced than naive. I’m learning the value of marketing, word of mouth, and local projects. The image above represents my creative goals and the platforms that showcase my strengths.

MissionI want to be a photographer, filmmaker, writer, speaker, traveller, coach, and teacher so that I can fulfil my life goals and earn a living by selling my products and services.

What’s in my control: While Instagram and YouTube showcase my work, they don't meet my mission needs because I lack control over the algorithm and content’s layout and presentation.

Why Website: My website, www.mujahidurrehman.com, is my property, allowing me to organize and design its content as I wish. It is a hub for my activities, showcasing who I am and what I offer. Search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing should recognise its value for those searching for coursesonline coaching, photographers, filmmakers, or instructors in Cape Town or internationally.

I’ve hired a professional team to implement strategies to boost my website's organic search ranking without paid ads. To achieve this, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) practitioners employ various techniques that focus on optimising a website's key components. This includes conducting thorough keyword research to identify the terms and phrases users are searching for. Businesses can increase their chances of appearing in relevant searches by strategically incorporating these keywords into high-quality content. Additionally, a well-structured site that is easy to navigate plays a crucial role in SEO. This involves creating an intuitive layout and ensuring that all pages are accessible, which contributes to a positive user experience. Link building is another vital aspect; acquiring backlinks from reputable websites can enhance a site's authority and relevance in the eyes of search engines. Moreover, effective content creation is essential, as search engines prioritise valuable, informative, and engaging material. SEO can significantly boost organic traffic, elevate brand awareness, and drive conversions when executed correctly. As such, it remains a cornerstone of successful online marketing strategies, helping businesses connect with their target audience meaningfully.

Current Focus:

  • SEO with the professional team

  • Writing more travel, technical and inspirational blogs on the website

  • Adding more images and organised galleries

  • Reorganising the content and pages in collaboration with the SEO team
